Thunder

Thunder

Thunder was rescued from Wagner Farm by Wagner Farm Rescue Fund in 2006 along with another steer, Maxwell. Both are steers and being male were not wanted at Wagner Farm. Thunder died suddenly in 2014 at age 8 from sudden pulmonary failure that had no symptoms and was undetectable, just like with Maxwell’s heart condition. He was fine one moment and gone practically the next moment. The veterinarian who was called said that he passed quickly and peacefully. A necropsy showed a possible pulmonary abscess and/or cancer. Thunder was a joyful, loving boy who was a great companion to Maxwell. The two were inseparable from the time of their birth at Wagner Farm (which were just days apart) up to Maxwell’s sudden passing two months before Thunder. The two months after Maxwell’s sudden death were emotionally difficult for Thunder, even with the company of the rest of the herd. Now both Maxwell and Thunder roam the pastures of heaven together for all time, never to be separated again. Like with Maxwell, the spark and spirit that were Thunder will always keep him alive in our hearts and memory.

Snowball

Snowball

Snowball was rescued from Wagner Farm by Wagner Farm Rescue Fund in 2007. Her greatest joy was that in rescue, she was eventually reunited with her also rescued sons, Bandit and Norman, whom she had been separated from for many years. She passed peacefully from old age in 2012 shortly before her 19th birthday, surrounded in love by her surviving cattle family – including her surrogate daughter CoCo and CoCo’s biological mother, Pumpkin – and devoted human caregivers.

Pumpkin

Pumpkin was rescued from Wagner Farm by Wagner Farm Rescue Fund in 2002. In 2008, Pumpkin was at last reunited with her daughter, CoCo, who had also subsequently been rescued, and the two remained together from then on. Pumpkin traveled many miles with her herd over the years, being moved between rescue sanctuaries, and set a great example of strength for all of them. Pumpkin passed in 2012 at the age of 14 from heart failure, and as with her herd mates who have already passed on, realized the rescue goal of Wagner Farm Rescue Fund for her to live out her life peacefully with her herd, and pass on quietly in their loving presence.
